I needed to find a place that I could board my 5 month old Aussie pup (Fille) as I had a conference to go to for 5 days. I was referred to Carpe Diem Dogs - Ashley - and she agreed to take my “behaviorally-challenged” pup for boarding and for training.

Prior to going to Ashley for boarding and training, my 5 month old Aussie was getting the better of me, so I decided to take her/me to puppy classes locally. At our 4th session with several other pups, we were asked to leave as my pup was a bit too behaviorally challenged.

Need less to say I was a bit discouraged.

I disclosed to Ashley the behavioral issues: jumping, barking, biting, pulling on the leash, not coming when called, basically my pup was “full of herself” and I didn’t know how to teach her or change her behaviors. I needed help!

While boarded, Ashley did miracles with my pup. In 4 days she trained Fille to not pull on the leash or bite it, and to walk calmly, to come when called, to give eye contact, to not bolt in and out of doors and most importantly, taught me through daily updates and face-to-face instructions on how to maintain the behavior changes in my pup.

I highly recommend Ashley as her techniques and style proved to be extremely effective in changing my pup’s behavior and I feel more confident too!

When I reached out to Ashley, my then one-and-a-half-year-old pitty mix rescue, Tilly, was highly fear reactive due to the trauma she had suffered early on. Tilly had a hard time on walks, in the car, and generally with anything or anyone that was new or felt like a potential threat. I have been a dog owner for almost my entire life. So I felt like a dog pro, my dogs were house broken, they knew how to sit and come, then they kinda just “hung out”.

Once I moved across country I started realizing people had dogs as part of their lives and I wanted that for my dogs but had no idea how to do that, especially since my older dog (over a decade) was not social.

After getting a puppy, I decided I wanted both dogs to have a full life. I learned quickly that I would get frustrated and I wasn’t equipped to give my dogs the life they deserved and found Ashley. This was the best decision I have made.

Ashley not only equipped me with the tools I needed to start to evaluate where my dogs were, but also what they needed to succeed. After learning the tools to be successful, and way to apply (even when I didn’t want to), Ashley’s consistent training and constant support allowed my older dog to overcome his fear and anxiety (he now lets other people pet him!) and my younger dog just achieved a AKC Good Citizenship. We are now continuing to get my older dog to pass the AKC Good Citizen test, and start working on more advanced training such as nose work and rally-o.
